Faculty of Arts Online Teaching Resources

Beginning May 2011, the UBC Faculty of Arts will provide all courses with an online course presence through a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) or Learning Management System (LMS). As the LMS currently supported by UBC, WebCT Vista will be the primary delivery platform.

The goal of this project is to take advantage of existing technological affordances to offer students and instructors alike a richer learning environment by enhancing existing course offerings.

As part of this initiative, instructor resources will be embedded directly into each course shell, enabling instructor direct and easy access to LMS documentation. In addition, resources will be hosted on the UBC wiki, and then embedded into the WebCT Vista platform, in order to facilitate the delivery of up-to-date resources and materials. By centralizing source content on the UBC wiki, the Faculty of Arts is able to deliver content to all courses without needing to manually update each course.

The project will be led and managed by the Faculty of Arts in consultation with its campus partners (CTLT, The Library).

The online teaching resources have been organized into two tiers.
