Plugins are tools to extend the functionality of WordPress. Plugins offer custom functions and features so that each user can tailor their site to their specific needs. Specifically, a Plugin is a group of php functions that can extend the functionality present in site. These functions may all be defined in one php file, or maybe spread among more than one file.

Requesting Plugins

Plugins add code to the UBC CMS WordPress Installation and thus represent the potential for causing serious stability and security issues to the platform. For that reason, plugins must go through a rigorous evaluation process before they will be added to UBC CMS. If a plugin does not meet the evaluation criteria, it will not be added to the platform. We do this to ensure that UBC CMS remains a stable, secure and supportable product for the entire UBC community.
