Organizing your PHYC208TM pages
Hi, thanks for using the UBC Wiki! As part of an effort to better organize the UBC Wiki, we're structuring all course related content in the Course space of the wiki.
I noticed that you recently created a number of new course pages for PHYC208TM. I moved your new pages into a hierarchical structure so they match the following protocol: Course:PHYC208TM/References. The prefix "Course:" (note the colon) indicates that this page is in the course namespace of the wiki. The forward slash "/" between PHYC208TM and References indicates that the page "References" is a subpage of Course:PHYC208TM. MediaWiki, the software the UBC Wiki runs on, automatically adds navigation links between subpages and their parent pages in the course space, which will make it easier for your users to navigate your pages.
On your main course landing page (Course:PHYC208TM), I also added a bit of DPL code so that every subpage is listed on the landing page (the article at Help:Dynamic Page Lists has more info about how to use this code).
Please see Using the UBC Wiki for Course Work for some tips on using the Course space. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this comment or to drop me a note on my talk page. You can also email wikisupport@exchange.ubc.ca.
Thanks again,
I also just wanted to add a note to say if you would rather have your course pages use PSYC instead of PHYC, please let me know and I'd be happy to move them over for you.
Thanks again.
Hi there,
Thank you for reorganizing all the wiki pages, this is my first time creating wiki pages so I'm not 100% sure about some of the rules or guidelines.
PHYC is a typo, it should be PSYC, it'll be great if you can move all the pages.
Thank you!
One more question, I'm embedding all the PSYC208TM pages in UBC Vista, do I need to change the embed link address in my Vista pages if the wiki pages have been moved?
Thanks again!
Hi Alanhan,
I moved your new pages so they use PSYC instead of PHYC. The landing page is now at Course:PSYC208TM and all subpages have been renamed as well. As the pages titles have all been changed, you'll need to get new embed links for Vista. You can visit each page and click on "Embed Page" under the Toolbox in the left hand sidebar to get the new link.
Please let me know if I can do anything else or answer any questions. Starting next week, we'll also be offering weekly drop in support sessions for using the wiki (the announcement with times and locations should be on the front page later today).
Best,
Will
Hi Will,
Thanks for your effort! I have changed the embed links in my Vista pages and everything looks fine!
