Suggestion (Laura Bagk)

I really enjoyed this article. I would love to have a section on the impacts of female-led superhero movies from powerhouses such as DC/Marvel on the younger audience, as I feel that there is a missed opportunity there, particularly since feminism is so wide-encompassing. Something that I would add is to discuss the Spiderman movies - particularly, the development of MJ as a character within them. In Tobey Maguire's versions, MJ is a 'damsel-in-distress', yet in the modernized versions led by Tom Holland, MJ is depicted very differently. I feel like there is a lot to discuss in that alone, and I am sure there are many similar examples that you could pull from as well.

Suggestion for including a list of films

Awesome topic! I really enjoyed reading your Wiki page and found all the information that you included to be really interesting and very well laid out. The only small suggestion that I can think of would be to include a list or table of some of the super hero movies from over the years so that the reader can click through and see how these films have evolved over time. Overall, excellent job!

Hi! I really enjoyed your article and I think it's extremely relevant right now because superhero movies have become a huge & lucrative genre. I really like the point you make about female superheroes given less physical powers, and I think you should mention Scarlet Witch as a prime example of that. You can also show some images of female superhero costumes to further emphasize the effect it has on women's body image.

Hi there! I found your wiki page really interesting to read and relevant to topics discussed often in peer groups. What I found really engaging about your page was the information you discussed about representation of different body types in superhero movies. Something really fascinating was the idea of the superhero universe bringing in plus sized role models. I thought it was great that you brought up the fact that even the fashion industry has caught on yet movie creators have not. This could be due to the constant idea that these movies are made for the mens point of view, like you mentioned.

I think overall this was a very engaging page. I would love a few more examples of specific superheroes that have perpetuated this stereotype. I know you mentioned the character Jennifer Laurence played in X - men, but there are many more who also contribute to the longstanding patriarchy in movies. You could also discuss the representation of race throughout these movies. Aside from Black Panther, there are not many female superheroes who bring light to minority groups in our society. Hope this helps!

Hello! I found your wiki topic very intriguing, as it is on a topic that I never really think of. As a kid, I never really watched superhero movies so this has opened my eyes!! I think your format and everything was great, and your research definitely supports your argument. But I found a few sentences that were either awkward or missing words. For example, it should say "is a strong point of debate" rather than "is strong point of debate." Additionally, in the character status part, there is an awkward sentence that you may want to consider revising - "the way that women are represented in this way." I feel like you don't need "in this way". Also, in the section about body image, you write "when researching ______, when I searched online." Again, I feel like you don't need "when I searched online" as the sentence seems a bit awkward. Also in body image, you write "this can cause problems by may lowering women's body esteem." I get what you are trying to say, but maybe some revision is necessary. I think your piece was really good and very insightful. You also definitely got your argument across!! My suggestions are just going through and reading it out loud and see if it makes sense!! Great job! :)

Hey, your article topic really resonated with me! I love superhero movies, and have often felt that representation was missing especially in terms of Asian, female and queer superheroes. It frustrates me to no end when film studios hint at characters being queer, but never confirm it (like Captain Marvel and Valkyrie).

I have a few suggestions to make:

I think that your sources could be better documented. Here is an easy site to do so: http://www.easybib.com/ . I noticed that many of your sources are missing things that are easy to find like the article title, the publisher name, the author and the date accessed. For example, your cite note #2 reads " "Polymath: An Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences Journal". November 2, 2018. ", which doesn't tell us anything about the name of the article (Black Widow: Female Representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) or the authors (Madelaine Gerard, Mark Poepsel).

You might want to review the tone of a few sections of your article, like this one in the section "Body Image": "To start I will mention that when researching the representation of body image in superhero movies, when I searched online, the first page of search finds were all articles on male body image and not a single one was on how women’s bodies are represented." Wiki articles are usually factual and you don't use "I". This sentence is more appropriate for a persuasive essay.

In your introduction, you have a few statements that are not backed up by any evidence. "Movies play a very strong role in shaping cultural and social opinions of generations through the way characters and storylines are represented, which is what makes this topic such an important area of discussion." "In the current generation, young adults and younger children are so heavily immersed in the world of media and online social platforms and are therefore the most highly influenced by this ever-expanding culture." Although I agree with these statements and I think many people agree as well, since this is a wiki article you might want to find some journal article or other evidence to support them. For example, maybe there is a study showing the increase of the movie industry over the years, or a study showing people who watch action shows tend to take more risks, something like that.

Hi there! I enjoyed your wiki topic very much and thought that it is very relevant to today's cinematic movement. I liked that you talked about women in superhero movies both prior to 2000 and after, as I think that comparing recent improvements is an important thing to acknowledge. A couple more of things I found most interesting about your wiki was that you brought up the notion of body image in women superheroes, and that a plus-size female heroine is something that presently doesn't exist. I didn't know that there was talk of a potential superhero that is plus-size but I am interested to see if this movie does go into production. I also found very interesting your argument that the differences between male and female superhero powers are quite significant. As you said, males usually have super strength or super speed, whereas heroines have telepathy, or sonic screaming which have nothing to do with strength or physical ability.

Just a couple suggestions I could provide to you are: -2 grammar mistakes, one is under "character status", and the word "examples" is plural when I think you mean for it to read "this is just one example" instead of "one examples". The other is under the "body image" title, and appears halfway through. It reads "this can cause problems by may lowering..." (I think you want to take out the word "may"). -There is also a floating bracket after "they all revolve around men" under the "early stages" subtitle, I'm not sure if this is meant to be there. -One last potential suggestion would be to add some pictures. This is of course not necessary but I think because so many viewers would be familiar with superheroes it would only catch their eye more and bring them in
