The display options allow you to enable/disable/alter different display features such as the post's byline, meta data, and comments, as well as the page meta data, favicon, licensing, additional header options and the sub-branding header image.
This options section can be found under Dashboard > Appearance > Theme Options > Display Options.
Post Options
The Post Options section is where you can choose what kind of information you want displayed with each of your posts. You may want to show the author or date in the byline. You may want to show the categories and tags of your post in your meta data, or you may want to have a link to your comments there. You can choose your preferences on what information is displayed here, or you can choose to disable both the byline and the meta data.
The post byline can appear before or after the post title and the meta data generally appears at the end of the post.
Post byline
Here, you can control how the post's byline is displayed (to enable/disable the byline check/uncheck its checkbox).
You can choose whether the byline appears before or after the post title by selecting your preference in the dropdown menu.
You can also choose how the sentence structure of the byline is arranged by either selecting one of the two given templates or by using your own text with the available tags. Tags such as [post-author-link] and [date] will be substituted with the relevant post meta data, so arrange these to suit your needs.
Post meta data
Here, you can control how the post's meta data is displayed (to enable/disable the post meta data check/uncheck its checkbox).
You can use one of the predefined meta data templates, or assemble your own style using variable tags.
Available tags include: [permalink], [categories], [tags], [comments]
Page Options
Here, you can control how a page's meta data is displayed (to enable/disable the page meta data check/uncheck its checkbox).
You can choose one of the predefined meta data templates, or assemble your own using variable tags.
Available tags include: [last-updated], [child-pages]
Discussion
You can choose to disable/enable commenting site-wide by checking/unchecking the provided checkbox in this section.
Archive Options
Some posts have thumbnails that are representative of that post. The checkbox in the Archive Options allows you to enable the display of post thumbnails in the archive page.
Favicon
A favicon (short for favourites icon), also known as a shortcut icon, website icon, URL icon, or bookmark icon is a file containing one or more small icons, most commonly 16x16 pixels, associated with a particular website.
To change the default favicon of your website you can use to add your icon to the media library and then copy the File URL into the line below provided in the section.
If you'd like to try your hand at generating a favicon you can try the favicon.ico Generator (this tool is not developed by UBC).
IMPORTANT: Please ensure that you only change the favicon if you are required to, as the default favicon contains the UBC branding.
Feed Cache
You can set the interval, in minutes, that the feed will be stored by entering your desired number in the text box (the minimum is 5 minutes).
License
With a Creative Commons license, you keep your copyright but allow people to copy and distribute your work provided they give you credit — and only under the conditions you specified here. For those new to Creative Commons licensing, here's a list of things to think about. [1]
Header
In this section, you can enable a few additional header features.
Enable Header Widget Area
This option enables an additional widget area that allows you to place widgets after the navigation.
Display site name
This option displays the site name in a header banner under the navigation and above the site content. The header banner area takes up the whole width of the site. This option is useful as a more prominent site identifier.
NOTE: You can change the site name under Dashboard > Settings > General.
Display site tagline
This option displays the site tagline in a header banner under the navigation and above the site content. It's meant to compliment the site name in the header banner area.
NOTE: You can change the site name under Dashboard > Settings > General.
Header Image
This feature allows you to specify an image as a sub-header, appearing between the navigation bar and the content area. This adds sub-branding imagery unique to your unit, enhancing branding on your site.
To enable this option, simply make sure that the checkbox in this section is checked off and then choose your header image by clicking on the Add a Default Header Image button.
IMPORTANT: The header image should be at least 980px in width and 150px in height.
NOTE: If you wish to have a different header image for a specific page, simply select an image for the "Feature Image" box when editing a page.
Paste your Google Analytics (or other) tracking code here. This will be added into the footer template of your theme.
