How are Entries Organised

Entries in the dictionary are organized alphabetically by Squamish. The Squamish alphabet and the order of the dictionary entries can be referenced on page 245. The alphabet is ordered by place of articulation moving from front to back, plosive to fricative to nasal (or liquid). Glottalic follows plain consonants and labialized consonants follow plain consonants. Sonorants and corresponding vowels come at the end.

Entries in the dictionary consist of the Squamish headword, the morphological breakdown of the headword, and English translation. The dictionary includes entries for roots, affixes, and stems throughout all sections. Roots are marked with the √ symbol, affixes are marked with a proceeding or following dash, and stems are unmarked (although morphemes are marked within the headword with dashes).
