Where is Information Coming from
This dictionary began in collaboration with the Ely Shoshone Tribe based on Boyd Graham's 2008 dictionary. Starting in 2009 the Shoshone/Goshute Youth Language Apprenticeship Program began working with Shoshone and Goshute elders to record word lists. It has continued to be expanded with the help of speakers and elders through the Shoshoni Language Project.

This is a bidirectional, bilingual online word list that makes use of sound files.
How are Entries Organised
The Talking Dictionary is organised in two parts. Entries in Main are organised alphabetically by Shoshoni headword in the side bar. Each entry has its own page containing a button to play its pronunciation, the speaker cited in parentheses, and the English definition. Entries in Reversal Index are organised alphabetically by English headword in the side bar, each with its own page containing the Shoshoni equivalent(s). Each Shoshoni word is clickable and returns the viewer to its page under Main. Both sections are searchable by English or Shoshoni.
