Trouble finding the Gender Diagnosticity paper.101:14, 17 July 2013

I've just read this page and I think it is looking very good. The only thing I can suggest is that the second paragraph be shortened. I don't think we need to go into that detail of how it is calculated.

JaimieVeale (talk)21:02, 1 August 2013

Yes thanks Jaimie; would someone like to take a crack at reducing that second paragraph?

KevinRose (talk)17:54, 2 August 2013

I'm working on shortening the second paragraph. I'll post in the discussion board again when I'm finished so everyone can check it over.

SelenaZhao (talk)19:24, 3 August 2013

I've shortened the length of the second paragraph, but I'm not sure if I cut out too much information about calculating gender diagnosticity or not. Any thoughts on this?

SelenaZhao (talk)00:08, 4 August 2013

I think it looks great Selena: it's direct and economical. Well done! cheers Kevin

Strereotypes and Holland's Occupational axes

Hi, I have added a bit about stereotyping and Holland's scale of occupational preference; I thought it would be relevant to mention Holland here as much of our questionnaire deals with occupation. I will insert our results when we have them to see if they correspond with Lippa's. cheers, Kevin

KevinRose (talk)22:13, 25 July 2013

It looks great to mention Holland since occupation was previously found to be important, however I think the introduction shouldn't include our results and just focus on the aspect of gender diagnosticity, but I think it could include what we predict, is that okay with everyone?

AmyPrangnell (talk)03:56, 26 July 2013

Yes thanks Amy by all means let's put the results elsewhere and put our predictions here. I'll remove the results bit. Anyone want to take a stab at writing the predictions bit?

KevinRose (talk)15:15, 27 July 2013

I removed "Our findings do/do not support this theorem."

KevinRose (talk)15:18, 27 July 2013

We can certainly say much more about GD here to help describe the method/theory that is the foundation of our project; this was just a start. Please add more everyone!

KevinRose (talk)15:26, 27 July 2013

Hi All, for my own purposes I have tried to paraphrase Lippa's calculation/definition so I can understand it. It is from Lippa 1990 p. 105. Please check it for clarity, accuracy and relevance!

I think this section is shaping up nicely. I'm not sure if the "Google" reference is reference properly (as per APA).

Perhaps someone can help me with this Google citation: I was referencing a definition after typing in 'stereotype define" in Google search bar. No author was given, nor date; I chose to put in Title, modifying factor (Google as only other written reference) and date (this year). Any other suggestions? I couldn't find an exact example in the APA sites. cheers Kevin

KevinRose (talk)18:08, 27 July 2013

Hi Kevin, I will look for more info on citing Google, I think I had seen something somewhere about it.

AmyPrangnell (talk)19:27, 27 July 2013

I think this website: http://uri.libguides.com/content.php?pid=57687&sid=492137 might have what you're looking for in regards to citing google.

SelenaZhao (talk)21:17, 27 July 2013

Hi Kevin, I found the definition in the Wikipedia page for stereotype so I just referenced Wikipedia as outlined.

AmyPrangnell (talk)23:44, 27 July 2013

Thanks Amy and Selena! And please feel free to edit/augment any citation errors I may have made! cheers Kevin

Trouble finding the Gender Diagnosticity paper.

I cannot find the publication without having to pay for it. can somebody try and find a way to get access to the publication?

YoungihnAmy (talk)01:10, 17 July 2013

Never mind found it.

here is the link.

http://www.researchgate.net/publication/232438047_Gender_diagnosticity_A_new_Bayesian_approach_to_gender-related_individual_differences

I think all the information needed for our purpose can be found in the first couple of pages.
