Organizing your recent Wiki Pages

Organizing your recent Wiki Pages

Hi, thanks for using the UBC Wiki! As part of an effort to better organize the UBC Wiki, we're organizing all course related content into the Course space of the wiki. I noticed you recently created a page called PLO-Socials11-463Lackmance and that you have an index page at Sandbox:LIBE 463 Lackmance.

I would like to propose that we move your index page to the Course namespace by giving it the name Course:LIBE463. We could then move all of your pages related to this course into subpages so that all pages related to your course are organized hierarchically. The wiki software will automatically add navigation links between subpages and their parent pages and this will help your users navigate through your content.

If this plan works for you, I would be happy to move the pages into the new structure.

Please see Using the UBC Wiki for Course Work for some tips on the Course space. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a note on my talk page.

Thanks again,

Hello, Will, NOTE that my site is simeply an assignment for the course... Other people are will also do the assignment. That's why I added my personal info to the page title.

If my pages do fit into the course section, it sounds like a good idea. When I first made the wiki, I got the impression that the course space was for instructors to post course-related content. Also, if structure/menus are automatic, that will help me a lot.

I would appreciate, though, when you move my site over to the course area... please leave the sandbox site up for at least a few days... Prof will be viewing my site today or tomorrow, and I don't want to create a hassle for her. If you can't leave both of them up, please wait until next week.

Thanks a lot for your help! Fred.

Hi Fred,

Using the course space for assignments is not a problem. I will leave your name in the title, though, and rather than move the sandbox pages, I'll duplicate them and then we can remove them when your professor is not in the proces of viewing your wiki pages. I'll leave you a note when everything is arranged.

Cheers,

Hi Fred,

I moved your LIBE 463 pages into a hierarchical structure, but I left them in the sandbox. The pages are at:

Basically, Sandbox:LIBE 463 Lackmance acts as the main top level page for your content. I moved the other pages into subpages. The wiki software will automatically add navigation links between subpages and their parent pages, which will help your users navigate . Subpages are created by adding a forward slash '/' after the top level page title (for example Sandbox:LIBE 463 Lackmance/) and then adding the subpage title (for example PLO-Socialls 11 to create Sandbox:LIBE 463 Lackmance/PLO-Socials11). You can also add subpages to subpages (see Help:Subpages for more info) .

By the way, it's fine to leave your pages in the Sandbox. If you would like to move them to the course space, all you'll have to do is move your top level page (by changing the word Sandbox to Course in its title) and all subpages will be moved as well (see Help:Moving a page for more info). Again, please don't feel like you have to move them.

Please let me know if this makes sense or if I can provide more info or do anything else.

Cheers,
