Suggestion about gender gap section

I like how you use a lot of facts and sources in your article. I think it would be good to focus on the gender gap section, because it would improve your intersectional analysis of the issue. In your “mental illness” section you show statistics that show women attempt suicide more than men, so you could expand on that and add it to your gender gap section.

Informative

This was very informative and your use of statistics is compelling. All of these impacts are clearly well documented and researched. I feel like it would be good to go a little more in depth on the ways trauma effects some of the other health things.

Suggestion

I think this is a great topic to look into considering how much colonialism has affected Indigenous health. It would be good to mention that settlers are responsible to introducing the illnesses that Indigenous peoples have encountered, especially in residential school systems. I think it would also be good to discuss the effects that Tuberculosis (TB) had on children in Residential school, as well as small pox which have both impacted the lives of Indigenous peoples. I look forward to reading your final piece!

So far so good!

Really like what you have so far. Wondering if you could add more background info to the topic. If you wanted to talk more about intersectionality, perhaps you can go into the financial aspect of health. Indigenous populations are more vulnerable to homelessness and poverty, which would add to their physical health being affected.

Interesting and important topic

You chose a very important topic to cover and I appreciate you covering inter-generational colonial effects on Indigenous health, as many positive changes to health care need to be centered around non-physical aspects of health. Moving forward I feel as though your page could benefit from some more photos/charts etc. Also, I would advise in capitalizing Indigenous as it seems more appropriate. Overall a good topic and looking forward to seeing the end result!

Interesting Topic

I found your topic to be interesting and relative to the discrimination that is happening today in Canada. I felt you presented the topic and information well. Try to provide a few examples that relate to your topic. Try to relate back to other forms of discrimination towards Indigenous people, and how it may contribute to the impacts on their health. I feel as though the use of images would help you portray your topic better and draw the attentions of your readers. Images will also help brake up the text. Over all your topic was interesting and I look forward to rereading your wiki page when it is done.
