Hello, It's interesting to see that you've talked a bit about the historic relationship between Hong Kong and the British Empire. I think it was an important milestone in establishing Hong Kong. It would be amazing if you talked a bit about the relationship between Hong Kong and China and everything that has been occurring in Hong Kong with the recent protests in regards to the controversial extradition bill. To add to that, I feel an important event that would better explain the relationship of Hong Kong and China would be the end of the 99-year British reign and the 1997 handover of Hong Kong back to China. Thank you!
Hello,
This seems like a good summary of the general basis for what is going on in Hong Kong in terms of colonial influences and is a great foundation to discuss modern day issues and how they are affected by the past. To further your analysis, some interesting things to consider would be how colonial influences affect the way people in Hong Kong live today under the Chinese government. In addition, some intersectional analysis on different gender and social classes and their reception of the issues currently happening in Hong Kong would also be an engaging topic.
Hello,
I liked how you provided some historical background to a topic that can go multiple ways. I think your topic is extremely relevant and applicable in our current times. You can use this to your advantage as you explore the impacts and current examples of the post-colonial Hong Kong Identity. You can use sub-headings to separate your ideas and guide your audience throughout the wiki page. For example, I would divide the discussion on opium war and when Hong Kong ceded to the British Empire so you can expand you explanation for both. A few other sub-topics I would suggest exploring include the youth of the post-colonial Hong Kong community, the handover of Hong Kong in 1997, and the protesting culture in Hong Kong. I think your wiki topic has a lot of opportunity to explore past and present social problems and how it all intertwines.
Good job at explaining the history of how this was all born. An interesting aspect that you could explore is the current political landscape in Hong Kong and how this is related to its colonialist ties. Also, as a previous commenter has mentioned -- different generations have different ties to post-colonial identity. Perhaps there are some that are grateful for this period and others who wish this had never been the case. Seeing the myriad of identities and examining if there are any common groups that fall into any category would be interesting to read about.
Hi,
I found your topic so interesting since I also identify myself as a Hong Konger. I think it is good to start off the topic by providing a brief history of how the city of Hong Kong was formed, but perhaps you can shorten this part to be more concise. I would also suggest providing more information regarding intersectionality. What I can think of is that people from different classes and ages tend to perceive different information under the post-colonial period that affect their self-identity. Additionally, you should include references! Good luck!
