I think you have a great start to your Wiki Page. The categories that you've already listed out are interesting and relevant to many of the controversy that our society has surrounded the idea of plastic surgery. I think it'll be interesting to compare beauty standards around the world and how this affects the perception of beauty that different countries have. For example, plastic surgery may be seen as very normal and acceptable in some countries. I'm looking forward to your completed Wiki page!
This is a great topic because it is very relevant in today's society, especially Western society. I like how you are going to look at the role of media. Will media include movies, TV and social media? I think social media is a very interesting way to explore plastic surgery. Additionally, I think it would be interesting to have a section on celebrities who have opened up about their plastic surgery. Lastly, looking at the medicalization of female attractiveness from the perspective of different cultures would be engaging. Many cultures have different ideals of beauty so it would be cool to see how their plastic surgery practices differ.
I LOVE your topic. I an see that it is just beginning to come together for your assignment, but i can see where it is going. I think this topic takes the cake for both originality and how relevant it is in society. I look forward to reading what else you come up with as I know how essential your section on media will be for emphasizing how the perception of fame and beauty is inherently medicalized through the immense amount of plastic surgery and alterations that the women of "beauty" we see in our society have. One thing to consider may be who allows this to be what we know as beauty. Do all women contribute to making these women the symbol of beauty or does it come from men in our society. Who buys what the media is selling as beauty?
Your topic is ver original and covers the origins of many mental health issues today. I cannot fully discern the direction of your topic, but it seems to me that through your headings, you cover a wide array of issues on such a large topic. The role of the media in medicalizing female attractiveness appears to be the root of this issue. I wonder if you can implicate the patriarchal structures of our society within the context of the media. This may give the topic a more institutional root cause when relating back to intersectionality.
Good job so far!
