Suggestion: More depth on the case studies

Hi there! Great work on a nice page and a very important subject. I believe this topic is not talked about enough and something that needs more awareness. As a suggestion, I think you could include more photos and talk more in depth about the case studies you mention. It would be interesting to know more about the individuals you mentioned and exactly how their stories came to be. Other than that, nice work!

Great Page! Although I knew that homosexuality and sports are conflictual when combined, I did not realize the media's role in the problem. It was interesting to me that the media simultaneously plays an inclusive and homophobic role in relation to sports players.

The information throughout your page is relevant to the themes of the course, and all of your links follow through, which is great. I would suggest renaming the first heading as it is the same as the title. In your title, I would also suggest that you remove "GRSJ 224/" as it appears awkward. Lastly, I would suggest reading through the page once and fixing any grammatical or sentence structure flaws.

Suggestions and Compliments

Hello! You have created a very interesting and put together wiki page! My eyes have now been opened the lack of normality behind gay men playing 'masculine' sports. I think that maybe you could give some background on who the men you talk about are, and their feelings and thoughts towards the subject. Maybe add some quotes or background on how they dealt with such negativity after coming out? I liked how you showed pictures of them on the side, to paint pictures in readers' minds about who you were talking about. I would say that this is a really insightful wiki, you did a great job.

Hello! I found your wiki very informative, especially the part about portrayal in the media. Perhaps you could add something about Olympic athletes who are gay/ come out as gay near their time at the Olympic Games, since these athletes are usually heavily featured in the media. Overall, your page is very well done, concise and easy to understand. Well done!

Hello there, I think you have chosen a very interesting topic and it is good that you gave some background information on some of the first openly gay professional male athletes although more details on their specific experiences in keeping positions on their teams or finding other teams and how the media reacted to their coming out. I think it could also be helpful to provide some context on the topic on some of the key terms used, to make it more clear and flow. Maybe explain the concept of masculinity and media portrayal of men and pro athletes in general.

Solid Wiki/One Question

Hi there! I think you chose a very interesting topic as I think it is safe to assume that most of us rarely think about homosexuality in professional sports because its true that this notion of masculinity is so deeply embedded within this profession. Something I found quite shocking about your wiki was to find out that the first male professional athlete ever to come out as being gay only happened in 2013. I also liked how you were able to link both his (Jason Collis) and Michael Sam's wiki pages so that we could click on them if we wanted more information or if we were unfamiliar with who they are. One thing I'm wondering is if this notion of hegemonic masculinity has changed within professional sports and if since 2013 society/players have become at all more accepting towards their teammates' sexualities? I'm not sure if there is much research on this topic though. Overall a very solid wiki!
