Google Maps

The maps within the Learning Commons website are created in Google Maps. In Google Maps you can place pins on locations that you wish to feature in your map and add details regarding that space or building within the pin's info box. In this box you may add links and photos to compliment the pertinent information. In order to edit the maps you must be logged in to the proper Google account to access them.

Google Account

  • Account: clcassistants@gmail.com
  • Password: refer to password document in Active Colab
  • Once you are in Google Maps and logged in, click on "My Places" and our maps will be listed below. Click on the map you are wanting to update and then click "Edit" to make changes.

Editing Maps

  • To create a pin, simply click on the blue pin in the top left corner of the map and then place it where you wish.
  • In the information box for the new pin, you want to ensure that the editing layout is set to "Rich Text" so that you may add links and photos.
  • For the description of each space, only practical information that is useful from a student perspective should be added. For example; What amenities are near this space? Are there bookable study rooms available? Are there vending machines? Are there quiet study spaces?
  • Optimally, if there are bookable study rooms at a location, a link should be provided to the booking site on the web.
  • A "More Information" link should be provided at the bottom of the pin that links to the Wayfinder page for that location.
