How are Entries Organised

Entries in this dictionary can be viewed in three ways: browsed alphabetically by Cree headword; browsed by the categories Keywords, Themes, Morphemes, and Parts of Speech; and via the Search function. Each entry, however it is viewed, is organised in the same way. Entries begin with the Cree word in syllabics, followed by its Latin spelling and its part of speech. Below the headword is the English gloss. A drop-down arrow beside the syllabic headword opens the entry as an embedded page when clicked on. This page shows the dialect, grammatical information such as stem and derivations, and two drop down lists: Morphemes and Keywords. Morphemes shows the morphemes present in the entry. Each morpheme contains another drop down list that shows all of the entries where that morpheme appears, each hyperlinked to their own entry. Keywords shows related words to the relevant parts of the English gloss (eg. for the gloss “movie, moving picture”, the keywords are movie, moving picture, photograph, and picture). Each keyword contains another drop down list that shows all of the entries relevant to that keyword, each hyperlinked to their own entry.
