Where is Information Coming from

Information in this dictionary largely comes from speakers Arthur Anderson, who worked with linguist Jesse Sawyer from 1972 to 1976, and Minnie Fulwider, who worked with linguist Roy Siniard in 1966 and 1967. This fieldwork was then processed, transcribed, and organised by Alice Schlichter. Information was supplemented by previously published and collected works as listed in the Introduction and References.

How are Entries Organised

Entries are organised alphabetically by English in the in the English-Yuki Vocabulary, and are formatted in two columns with English on the left and Yuki on the right. Listed below the English headword in the left-hand column are English words and phrases corresponding to the headword. The Yuki translation is listed beside the corresponding English phrase or word in the right-hand column. Most entries contain the source (i.e., speaker or previous work). Entries are organised alphabetically by Yuki in the Yuki-English section. This section functions as an index for the previous dictionary section. Therefore, entries include the Yuki head word or phrase with the English translation. No other information is included in these entries.

Prior to the dictionary sections, there is a brief Grammatical Sketch, which includes information about the Yuki alphabet and sound system, stress, the parts of a word (i.e., roots, affixes, particles), pronouns, and sentence structure.
