Information in this dictionary largely comes from speakers, including transcriptions of previously spoken materials. Previous language works (both published and unpublished) that were used in making this dictionary include a list of place names by anthropologist Keith Basso, a list of business terms prepared by students (these students include Caroline Brown, Ruth Chinche, Flora Cosen, Anthony Dazen, Bernie Grant, and Perfillia Tessay), and the Western Apache Dictionary (1972) compiled by Edgar Perry.

Preceding the dictionary, there is a brief grammar that includes topics such as Western Apache pronunciation, writing conventions, verb construction and complex, affixes, pronouns, and particles.
