How are Entries Organised

This dictionary is organized topically. Topics include people and relationships, vegetables, clothes, and many others. Typically, most of the page is taken up by illustrations with numbers beside different elements of the picture. Below the illustrations, there is a numbered list that includes the Navajo and English term corresponding to the picture it identifies. For example, on the page about The Supermarket, there is a paper bag with a number 25 printed on it. In the numbered list below the image, beside number 25, the Navajo and English term for 'bag' are listed.

Following the dictionary, there is an appendix which includes topical word lists, including information about days of the week, months of the year, numbers, and colours. Following the appendix, there is an English index and then a Navajo index, where entries are listed alphabetically by English and Navajo respectively and include the page numbers where that word is found in the main dictionary section.
