How are Entries Organised

Entries are automatically organized alphabetically by Dogrib. Entries include the Dogrib headword, the part of speech, the English translation, and the topic. Many entries also include an audio recording of the Dogrib term, an illustration, and a phrase for context in Dogrib and its English translation. By clicking on the '+' beside the headword, users can see more example phrases and sentences.

The dictionary's search functions are detailed, as described at the top of the Main Dictionary page. Entries can be searched by term, sound, illustration, part of speech, English translation, context phrase, or topic. Topics include clothing and footwear, tools and equipment, body and health, people, time, land and places, travel, sky and weather, food and eating, living creatures, family, descriptive words, fire and water, shelter and building, numbers and amounts, sewing and handwork, communications and speaking, plants, situations and happenings, hunting and fishing, mind and spirit, relationships between things, moving things, community and culture, and government and law. Items typed into the Quick Filter search box can be searched at the beginning of an entry or simply contained within an entry. We are not able to confirm the dictionary's search capacities due to the website failing to load.
