How are Entries Organised

Entries are organized alphabetically by Salish in the Spokane-English section according to the alphabet on p. iv. The headwords in this dictionary are roots and lexical suffixes. Entries include headword, its English translation(s), and derivational forms (written as grammatical analysis) in Salish followed by the English translation (often translated as a sentence in English). Variations in spelling of the headword are included in parentheses directly after the headword.

Entries in the English-Salish section are organized alphabetically by English. Entries include the English headword, the Salish root equivalent (if applicable), the Salish translation (often requiring a root and several affixes), derivational forms or similar words or phrases in English followed by the Salish translation.
