The Acknowledgements and Introduction sections are reproductions of Anthony Mattina's 1987 Colville-Okanagan Dictionary, and most of the entries in the wordlist appear to come directly from the 1987 dictionary. No individuals are named in the parts of this document that are not reproductions of the 1987 dictionary, and no context is provided as to the context in which this wordlist was compiled. This dictionary includes the title page, Acknowledgements, and some pages of the Introduction to Anthony Mattina's Colville-Okanagan Dictionary (1987), which includes information from the Colville (sx̣ʷyʔiłpx) and Okanagan dialects. Type of Dictionary

This is a bilingual, mono-directional, topical word list.

How are Entries Organised

The entries in the main sections of the wordlist, which come from the 1987 dictionary are organised topically and are each numbered. The topics are Nature/Universe, Animals, Fish, Birds, Trees/Plants/Berries, Body Parts, Spiritual, Human Relationships, Man Made Things/Dwellings/etc., War/Hunting/Fishing, Implements/Tools, Food, Qualities, Pronouns/Adverbs/etc., Inflected Forms, and Verbs.

The last eight pages which consist of entries which were not included in the 1987 dictionary seem to have been added later, as they are either handwritten or in a different font. These final pages are not organized in any manner (except for page 65 which contains terminology related to horse colours).

Other Notes

The open access PDF available on the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation website is a scan of the physical book and can be difficult to read due to font choice and hand-written elements.

While this dictionary begins with the title page, Acknowledgements, and part of the Introduction of Anthony Mattina's Colville-Okanagan Dictionary (1987), this word list was compiled afterwards (1996–1999) by the Okanogan Language Preservation Program, supplying words that were not included in Mattina's 1987 dictionary on pp. 71–78.
