Where is Information Coming from

This dictionary does not indicate where information is coming from or what sources were used. However, it details some of the Tolowa language revitalization process, stating that "the Tolowa language project was started in Crescent City. Elders were gathered together to start the documentation process. The project stabalized the language and extended it into the present day" (p. xi). It is possible that the information in this dictionary is partially, if not fully, from the work done by the Tolowa language project at Crescent City.

Entries are organized topically. Topics include animals, body, conversation, clothing, and many more. Within most topics, entries are organized alphabetically by English. Entries include the English headword or phrase and the Tolowa translation. No other information is included in the entries.

Starting on p. 126, there is A Brief Grammar, which includes information on the alphabet/sound system, possession, pronouns, and verbs. While this section is called a grammar, each section contains word lists. Following the grammar, there are two indexes listed alphabetically in English, one for words and the other for phrases.
