Where is Information Coming from
Information in this dictionary comes from speakers who have worked with language initiatives since 1992, which includes the Lakota Language Consortium's publication of the physical dictionary New Lakota Dictionary: Lakȟótiyapi-English/English-Lakȟótiyapi (first published in 2008).

This desktop software can be purchased for $29.95 USD from the online LLC Bookstore. A thirty-day free trial is available upon downloading the software.

This is a bilingual, bidirectional, digital desktop software.
How are Entries Organised
In order to access entries, users must use the search bar. When a user searches a word, all entries pertaining to that word (numbered in order of relevance) are listed on the right side of the screen below the headword (in whichever language it was searched). The entries contain the translation, the definition in English, the part of speech, and variations in spelling and pronunciation. All Lakota words are hyperlinked. When double-clicked, users are taken to the full entry of that word, which also contains an audio recording, a breakdown of the word, example sentences, and more related forms.
When users search a word, they can select on the left side of the screen to see a list of results from the full dictionary corpus. This lists all English or Lakota entries (depending on which language the search function was performed in), all translation entries, all definitions, and all examples that have the searched word in the entry. Each of the listed items is hyperlinked and when clicked, takes users to that specific entry.
