How are Entries Organised

The Kawaiisu-English Dictionary is organised alphabetically by Kawaiisu headword. Each entry contains the part of speech, the English gloss, comparative forms, and if applicable, its page in the preceding Grammar. The English-Kawaiisu Index is a word list organised alphabetically by English headword. Each entry contains only the Kawaiisu form or forms to be looked up in the Dictionary.

This dictionary contains an extensive Grammar (pp. 5-150) and two Texts (pp.153-174). These texts were told to Zigmond by Emma Williams in the late 1930s and transcribed with the help of her daughter Elise. Each text is written phrase by phrase, with English first, Kawaiisu second, and linguistic glosses third. The Grammar contains sections on the language's phonology, how to form simple sentences, verb structure, and complex sentence structure.
