How are Entries Organised
The dictionary begins with a guide to Mohawk pronunciation. This is followed by a table of contents. The first part of the table of contents lists all Mohawk words in alphabetical order alongside their corresponding page numbers. The second part of the table of contents is for the Grammar Outline and gives the page numbers for different topics covered in that section. The third part of the table of contents lists English words followed by the corresponding page numbers.
The first part of the dictionary is a Mohawk to English wordlist where a Mohawk word is written in bold, followed by its English translation. If more than one translation variant for the word exists, they are listed. Sometimes entries will also refer the user to other entries. It appears that this section is organised alphabetically by Mohawk word, although synonyms may be listed together.
This is followed by a short grammar explaining Mohawk nouns and the suffixes and prefixes that can be added to them to create phrase expressions. The grammar also covers common Mohawk verbs and their conjugations.
The third part of the dictionary is an English to Mohawk wordlist, where the English word is given, followed by its Mohawk translation, and then the English gloss. These entries are also organized alphabetically by English word.
