This is a dictionary of the North Slope Iñupiaq dialect. More information on where the dialect is spoken can be found in the Preface on page ix, and in the General Introduction on page xiii -xiv and xxi - xxii. A map depicting where Iñupiaq and the surrounding languages are spoken can be found on page xii.

This is a bilingual dictionary, and mono-directional Iñupiaq to English dictionary. Thematic entries make up the 31 appendices.
How are Entries Organised
The Iñupiaq to English dictionary is organized alphabetically by the Iñupiat Atchagat (Iñupiaq Alphabet): a, ch, g, ġ, h, i, k, l, ḷ, ł, ł̣, m, n, ñ, ŋ, p, q, r, s, sr, t, u, v, y. The Iñupiaq entries are broken into the following sections: Word Stems, Postbases, Word Endings, Enclitics, and Appendices. Thematic entries are included as part as the 31 appendices. At the very end of the volume there is an English to Iñupiaq Wordfinder which can be used to find entries in the main dictionary.
