Where is Information Coming from
The plant names were given by the named Skidegate speakers. Some names given by Drs. C.F. Newcombe, J.R Swanton, F. Boas, and E.S. Curtis were noted when not known by the present Skidegate speakers.
The Masset equivalents were transcribed by Randy Bouchard in 1971 from a 1970 tape recording by Emma Matthews, William Matthews, and Florence Davidson.

English to Haida (Skidegate). Latin scientific names for plants are also included. Masset equivalents are handwritten next to entries when available.

This is a word list of the Skidegate dialect. One version has equivalent terms from the Masset dialect.

This is a bilingual, mono-directional, word list.
How are Entries Organised
The entries are organised into sections based on plant type (e.g., Seaweeds/Algae, Fungi & Lichens, Mosses/Bryophotes etc.).
The entries are numbered throughout the entire document. The entries and the sections do not seem to have any other order, and are not alphabetical by either English or Haida.
Most entries include a description of the plant, and some include a description of the plant's use or medicinal properties.

The version without Masset equivalents is a better quality scan, and a smaller sized file.
The writing system used in this word list is the practical writing system for Haida described in How To Write The Haida Language (Skidegate dialect) developed by Randy Bouchard (with the assistance of Gertrude Kelly and Robert Levine).
