Other Notes
The Preface identifies this dictionary as the first effort at a unified Haida dictionary. It states that many common words are not included, but this dictionary aims to provide teachers of Haida with some materials and learners with a dictionary to get them started.
The authors encourage the reader "(1) to work closely with a Haida speaker on learning how to use the words in this dictionary and adding new words to it, and (2) to study carefully the introduction, which can help to provide the reader with a method of forming new words which are not in the dictionary by the principles of word-formation in Haida." (pg. 5-6).
