The entries are organized categorically, which include Lichens, Fungi, Mosses, Ferns and Fern-allies, Conifers, and Flowering Plants. The last four groups are further divided into families, which are listed alphabetically.

This dictionary is introduced by a thorough explanation of the Nsyilxcən language, the Syilx people, the traditional territory, and the research methods and process. The entries in the botanical dictionary section include the plant's English name, the scientific name, the Nsyilxcən name, and information about the traditional usage and environment of the plant. Following the dictionary, there is a section detailing the role of plants in traditional culture. There are several appendixes including General Botanical Terms in the Okanagan-Colville Language, a guide to the Nsyilxcən writing system, an Index to Okanagan-Colville Plant Names, and an Index to Botanical and Colloquial Plant Names. The Index to Okanagan-Colville Plant Names is organized alphabetically by Nsyilxcən. The Index to Botanical and Colloquial Plant Names is organized alphabetically by scientific and English name.
