The information in this dictionary mainly comes from speakers. Information also comes from Joan Tenenbaum's 1975 Nondalton Tanaina Noun Dictionary, whose principle language contributors were Pete Trefon Sr. and Antone Evan. Previous publications are cited in the Acknowledgements on pp. 7–8 and in the References found at the back of the dictionary.

This dictionary contains information from all four dialects of Dena'ina (i.e., Upper Inlet, Outer Inlet, Iliamna, and Inland).

How are Entries Organised

The entries in this dictionary are organised topically. Topics include mammals, pronouns, body parts, common conversational words, and many others. Entries include the English headword and the Dena'ina translation(s). For biological entries, the Latin name is included beside the English headword. The dialect or village identification is listed beside the relevant Dena'ina translation. There is no other information included in the entries.

Prior to the dictionary, there are brief descriptions of Dena'ina dialects, alphabet and sound system, spelling conventions, and key words.

Following the dictionary, there is a Dena'ina–English Index, which is organised alphabetically by Dena'ina. This index is a list of Dena'ina words with the page number of the dictionary the word is located on in the main dictionary section.
