This is a bilingual, bidirectional dictionary followed by a grammar and several appendixes.

How are Entries Organised

Entries are organized alphabetically by Cowlitz in the Cowlitz–English section according to the alphabet listed on p. xix. Entries include the Cowlitz headword, an English translation, derivatives of the word in Cowlitz with an English translation when applicable, and any necessary grammatical information. Entries are organized alphabetically by English in the English–Cowlitz section. Entries include the English headword, a Cowlitz translation, and any Cowlitz derivatives.

The grammar that follows the dictionary includes information on Cowlitz such as the sound system, word structure, sentence and clause structure, and lexicon.

The appendixes following the grammar list affixes, place names, personal names, and loanwords.
