How are Entries Organised

At the top right corner of the website, there is a toggle that, when clicked, changes the direction of the dictionary. When the toggle is set to en–ch, the dictionary is set to English-Northern Valley Yokuts, and entries are organised alphabetically by English. When the toggle is set to ch–en, the dictionary is set to Northern Valley Yokuts-English, and entries are organised by Northern Valley Yokuts.

Entries in both directionalities include the headword (the Northern Valley Yokuts-English entries have two forms as headwords), the part of speech, the translation, and two example sentences written in both languages. In both sections, most entries include two forms of the word in Nothern Valley Yokuts: noun and adjective entries include the subject and object forms, and verb entries include the recent past and remote/narrative past forms. The example sentences each illustrate one of the two included forms. Many entries also have additional forms listed below. Noun and adjective entries have forms related to ownership, use, and location. Verb entries have forms related to tense, commands, suggestions, and hypotheticals. Most entries have an audio recording of the Northern Valley Yokuts word(s) and an image.

The search function works in both directions. However, that direction is dependent on the direction of the dictionary. When the dictionary is set to English-Northern Valley Yokuts, it can be searched by English. When the dictionary is set to Northern Valley Yokuts-English, it can be searched by Northern Valley Yokuts.
