How Information is Cited

We are unable to access the full dictionary to determine how, or where previous work and source materials are cited. They are likely cited in the Bibliography. Some of the previously published sources which were heavily referenced in this dictionary are cited in the Preface.

Where is Information Coming from

The information in this dictionary comes from speakers as well as previously published materials. Special mention is made to Jesse and Vinnie May James Humes's 1997 work A Chickasaw Dictionary. Since Chickasaw is closely related to Choctaw, the authors consulted a number of Choctaw dictionaries which suggested additional Chickasaw words. These are cited in the preface as Cyrus Byington's Choctaw Dictionary, Allen Wright's Chahta Leksikon, Ben Watkins's Choctaw Definer, and unnamed works by T. Dale Nicklas.
