Where is Information Coming from
Entries in this dictionary come from two main sources. First, the Texts (1970) and Grammar (1977) written by Hansjakob Seiler, as well as his unpublished field notes collected in the 1960s. Second, from fieldwork conducted by Hioki in 1972 and 1973 with speakers Katherine Siva Saubel and Alice Lopez.

Dialects Included
This dictionary includes the Desert Cahuilla, Mountain Cahuilla, Palm Springs Cahuilla, and the Wánikik Cahuilla dialects. The Palm Springs Cahuilla and the Wánikik Cahuilla dialects are marked using abbreviations in entries. The Mountain Cahuilla and Desert Cahuilla dialects are unmarked but can be identified in some entries when speakers are cited (Katherine Siva Saubel is cited for Mountain Cahuilla and Alice Lopez is cited for Desert Cahuilla).

How are Entries Organised
The Cahuilla to English dictionary, beginning on page 13, is organised alphabetically by Cahuilla headword. Each entry contains the grammatical category, comparative forms, and English definition. If a form was given by Lopez or Saubel and was not attested in the authors’ previous work, their initials are marked after the grammatical category. Dialects are listed by abbreviation at the beginning of entries. Many entries list at least one example sentence from Seiler's Texts (1970). The English-Cahuilla Index is organised alphabetically by English headword followed by Cahuilla equivalent(s).
