This is a bilingual, mono-directional wordlist with additional resources found in the appendices.
How are Entries Organised
Entries are organized alphabetically in Hawaiian. "To the immediate right of each entry is the word or phrase spelled with the correct diacritical markings" (viii), and abbreviations within parenthesis specify where information is coming from for that particular entry. Abbreviation definitions are found above all entries, under Abbreviations Used in the Dictionary on page xv.
The dictionary also includes various appendices after the entries which include documents such as: Land Commission Award, Royal Patent, Deed, Bill of Sale, and Maps. They start on page 107.

The compiler specifies in the Preface that this dictionary is intended to serve as an aid for readers who already have advanced knowledge or some proficiency in the Hawaiian language, it is not designed as a tool for beginners.
