The first edition of this dictionary was published in 1989 by California Indian Library Collections Project. A second edition was published in 1993.
A PDF of the second edition (1993) was made available on the North Fork Rancheria website in 2014.
Older editions of the dictionary may also be titled A Practical Dictionary of Western Mono.

Some background on the creation of the PDF as well as an email exchange between Joshua M. Freeman, Michelle Sonoqui Gillete and Paul V. Kroskrity is included as a note accompanying the dictionary on the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians website. Michelle found that physical copies of the dictionary were rare and hard to find and obtained permission from Kroskrity to allow the digitization of the most updated version of the dictionary.

How are Entries Organised
Entries are split into two sections. The Western Mono-English section is organised alphabetically by Western Mono, with each entry including the part of speech, the English definition, and two kinds of examples: for affix entries an example of a word with affix is included, followed by an example sentence; if the entry is not an affix, two example sentences are listed. The English-Western Mono section is intended as a finder list. It is organised alphabetically by English headword, followed by the Western Mono equivalent(s).
