Discussion

Nice work Dandan. I would like to share this page on my page as you have described different control systems which is related to my page too.
Here are my thoughts:

1> Nice example for open and closed loop control. It's good that you extended the same example for closed loop.
2> Increase the image size. You can use: Filename.png |thumb|450px |right | DESCRIPTION
3> Also try to bound the images to the section where from they are referred. For example look at the images water tap system and centralized system.
4> While defining controlled dynamical systems, you should explain its relationship with control system.
5> Heading from Definition of controlled dynamical systems to Control factors and then Representing Time doesn't seems to be in flow. They look more like discrete entities put together.
6> I think it would be better if you work again on your design as well as appropriate heading. Your contents are good, you just need to work on presentation.
7> Change the background of Forward control theory image to white. It looks odd.
8> you should explain the mathematical formulas you have used.
9> In the Acting with Reasoning: you started with "Another major issue is that...", where is the first issue? It makes the flow unrelated.
10> Try to make the example paragraph in Acting with Reasoning a bit more concise or divide it into two.
11> In Components of an intelligent control system, you can change your sentence " A robot has a "body", which is u....." to something like "A robot has, in general, two parts: body -- which is...... and controller -- also called as brain of......
Minor: 1. In Acting with Reasoning: "An" good example of the combination

Now the page looks very good.

Hi Dandan,

Nice work! Your page is informative and has nice examples. I have a few suggestions:

  1. There are some grammatical errors in the page. You should revise and correct them.
  2. It would be better if you could briefly explain the mathematical formulas you have used in the page.
  3. While the content of the page is generally good, presentation can be improved: Image sizes are too small
  4. "The Builds-on" and "More general than" sections below the abstract have not been updated yet. Please place links to appropriate related pages.

Scores:

  • [5] The topic is relevant for the course.
  • [3] The writing is clear and the English is good.
  • [5] The page is written at an appropriate level for CPSC 522 students (where the students have diverse backgrounds).
  • [3] The formalism (definitions, mathematics) was well chosen to make the page easier to understand.
  • [3] The abstract is a concise and clear summary.
  • [5] There were appropriate (original) examples that helped make the topic clear.
  • [4] There was appropriate use of (pseudo-) code.
  • [5] It had a good coverage of representations, semantics, inference and learning (as appropriate for the topic).
  • [5] It is correct.
  • [4] It was neither too short nor too long for the topic.
  • [5] It was an appropriate unit for a page (it shouldn't be split into different topics or merged with another page).
  • [3] It links to appropriate other pages in the wiki.
  • [5] The references and links to external pages are well chosen.
  • [3] I would recommend this page to someone who wanted to find out about the topic.
  • [3] This page should be highlighted as an exemplary page for others to emulate.

Suggestions

Hi Dandan Wang, Awesome page! I learnt a lot about how control theory works and its applications. Few of suggestions:

  1. Some of the diagrams could be a bit bigger to enhance readability. Few of them were in next section.
  2. In the equation I am not clear on what is
  3. In the adaptive control part,

what is the Ţ ?

  1. I found some grammatical errors. Ex- "mechanism that can alters", "the knowledge base is used to behave","a visitor might have already leave the page".

Suggestions

Hi Dandan Wang,

I am glad to read your page about Control Theory which is very interesting and instructive. I have gained a general and initial understanding of control theory and also got to know how control theory can be applied to actual systems. However, from my perspective, there are still several aspects to be improved as follows:

1. There are some grammatical errors in the page which you should proofread and correct. For example, The control theory deals with how an intelligently perceive, reason, and behave in an environment. It seems that the word "agent" is missing in this sentence. Here is another sentence: Each components in this system is equally important for contributing to the global, complex behavior. Decentralization is useful in many ways, for example, it is applied in operations over long distance. The word components should be changed to component.

2. Section Controllers and control theory is not very clear to me. You present several mathematical formulas whithout explaining how they should be applied. You may need to elaborate the significance of these equations by specific examples and illustrations.

Sincerely,

Ke Dai
