Our group would like to explore the endangered food Bear Root. It's used in Indigenous cultures as both food and medicine.

Our subtopics of interest are:

  • Where bear root is natively found/main supplier
  • How its eaten/its taste/recipes it can be used in
  • Food vs medicinal uses of bear root - how is it used in the indigenous community?
  • Safety: any side effects, potential interactions with medications, mix ups with similar looking root
  • What are its potential health benefits
