UBC Wiki:Roadmap/2022 June Meeting

Agenda:

• Upgrade to 1.39

Notes-

• • 1.39 will be the LTS version
  • will need to do throughout testing
  • Plug-in need to be reviewed for compatibility with 1.39
  • more support from Kelvin - will need testing perhaps tech rover skin.
  • Timeline -
    • Should be ready before labour day / fall term (Sept 1st)
      • New version by the end of July on staging.
      • August to September is a testing month
      • Tim - Rovers can help do some testing in August
      • Rie - Will to help create a test plan
      • Tim - has test tool that can help with creating cases/tracking testing
      • Maybe start looking now at plug-in's - which one's are being documented - are supported in 1.39
      • Plug-in review through end of July.

• Bundled on version 1.38 Update for UBC Wiki Mobile Skin . currently we are on version 1.35 (Will)
  • When will it be a good time to update? (Pan)
  • Help from Novak's Team (Kelvin?) with CSS and JS
  • QA if there will be any broken pages on the wiki (Can we get help from LTHub team? )
• Kaltura change impact in ubc wiki (Pan)
  • Have to switch embed code between May-Oct.

    • Looking at use cases across tools
    • Does there need to be scripting approach, communicating approach
    • Fairly big amount in text pages (not so much in comments)
    • Tammy and Ardie to provide guidance on which approach (comms vs programmatic) would work
      • mention to the library about upgrade

• UBC Wiki - Common UBC Wiki questions so far? (Tim)
• "Download PDF feature" on the Collection plugin we are currently using - (Rie)
  • Wiki book has currently been depreciated
  • Is https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Proton good for an alternative? Proton is currently using in mediawiki
    • Will put on roadmap for after Wiki update

• Follow up on: New user account names be generated from the preferred name rather than the CWL (to make it consistent with Canvas)
  • LThub can generate list based upon ticket
    • Accessibility in UBC Wiki(Will?)

Extension Wishlist

• Allow the UBC Wiki to natively play mp3's and other media
• Maybe test out on verf/staging
• would it be possible to not allow videos, but able to play mp3
