CONS200 Case Study - Copyright Issues

Fragment of a discussion from User talk:AzaKuijt

Hi Deb, So sorry about that, we had no idea! We were under the understanding that if we used our own pictures it was not copyright so I guess that's wrong? Did we upload it to the page incorrectly? How do we create a creative commons licence for the picture since we really want to use that picture considering one of our own group members took it! I have written permission from Hillary Clark, and have tried to attach it to this message. If it didn't work I can send it another way that is convenient for you. Could you tell me if what I've attached is good enough to use the picture? Sorry for all the mess, but thank you for your help!<wikieditor-toolbar-tool-file-pre>31870896_2159998947557207_5827063137861369856_n.jpg]] Aza Fynley Kuijt

Hi Aza:

Thank you for getting back to me! As a student at UBC, you own the copyright for all the work that you produce. In order for others to use and share your work, they must obtain written permission from you unless you have licensed your work under a Creative Commons license. I hope this help to clarify your understanding about copyright. My colleague Rie Namba will be editing the Wiki metadata on Hillary Clark's photo to reflect that the image is used with permission. I will go ahead to import and showcase your case study on the Open Case Studies website (http://cases.open.ubc.ca).

Take care, Deb
