Zack and Cindy's Further Thoughts
Following some reflection on the client's experience (new to our site and what we do), and taking into account the discussion so far, here's what we have come up with as suggested top level categories (for TLPD) to answer the question: what can I get/do here?
- connections
- resources
- tools (technology)
- project development
- facilitation
- learning opportunties
This doesn't really get to the "teaching geek" or what I love - notion, but maybe that is associated in another way.
For each of these categories, we are thinking that we would need a landing page that would act as a navigation aid, to further answer the questions:
- what is our angle? (definition/interpretation)
- what do we offer?
- examples (post features)
- places to start (depending on role - as a start).
My suggestions for a top-level navigation:
- Get Started (Help!) ->To intro TLPD material, CTLT overview, and links to basic services
- View T&L Resources ->To Resource section
- Improve my Teaching ->Workshops, Coaching
- Partner in Innovation & Leadership ->Facilitation, Project Development, ALDP, etc.
- Browse Services and Workshops ->directly to top-level events page or to something like current "workshops/services top level description, and from there to events page.
- Connect with Community ->CoP's, Coaches, Consultants, Facilitators
I think a person viewing this from a new to CTLT perspective would probably click on the correct link (relative to what they want) because all of them describe (I think) what a person might be coming to the site to do, and I think this captures most of the motivations.
