Demographic questions
Which demographic questions do you think we should include in the final questionnaire?
Should we add some questiones on religion? I personally believe religious beliefs will shape our personality, no matter to male or female. For example, on the dimension of aggression, those who believe in Daoism, as the core idea, they value peace, harmony a lot, which may result in an average of lower level on aggression.
I think religion is a valid contribution; I'm not sure whether religion shapes our personalities or people with certain personalities are more likely to follow certain religions, but I'm sure there's some sort of correlation.
However, I do think "irreligious/atheistic" should be separated into the categories of "agnostic" and "atheistic", because I believe the two can be very very different.
I'm not sure if we need level of education as a demographic question. It will just be students in the class filling out the questionnaire, meaning you will mostly be at the same level of education. What do others think?
Yeah, I made a mistake. I thought we may assign this questionnaire to a wide range of participants. If it is only for students in the class, we can remove this one.
Hi Jaimie, how about one's birth order or siblings? (For instance, a male who is the youngest brother in his family and all he has are sisters)
I think we should add questions about sexual orientation, because people sometimes with different sexual orientations have differing opinions. I studied this in one of my other psych classes.
Also, do you guys think we should ask something about attachment styles? How people were brought up in childhood? That also affects how our personality develops later in life.
I personally think that adding a question about sexual orientation might show a difference with the final results so we should include it, as long as it is completely anonymous I don't think anyone will mind.
Hi all, these are good questions. I don't feel strongly either way about whether we include them. I think we will leave it up to the class. What do others think?
