100-day Cough: The Human Body

Hey Anna, I'm not sure about that information either since it's not from my answers. Maybe Kiran can answer that for you.

MichaelLy (talk)01:48, 23 January 2015

Ok I'm going to start editing now! If I don't hear anything by tomorrow, I'll remove the part that says "Inflammation destroys the epithelial and goblet cells that secrete mucus; Decreased mucus production leads to decreased vascularizaton, which means less warmth and moisture is provided to incoming air; Cold, dry air enters lungs and can cause lungs to dry out" since the literature I read seems to disagree. And I'll add the part about how the toxin increases mucous production instead.

But Kiran please let me know where you got your sources from if I'm wrong! :) I'll save the original sentence so it doesn't get lost.

Michael: I don't know what you meant by original link, but for now I'll just edit some of my parts and keep track of what I changed. If you want to know which parts are different, let me know!

Hi Anna,

Please don't delete that part! My references are all at the bottom of my wiki page. I agree that Pertussis may cause toxin release that increases mucus production but we don't know that the infection is caused by Pertussis. The questions we were assigned are very general and meant to just focus on analysis we can draw from what symptoms were given eg. chronic coughing. I don't think we should include anything about Pertussis at all because that is too specific and I think that comes in other people's qns (eg. Microbiology section)

Does that kind of make sense? Let me know what you guys think! :) Also, how do we upload the prezi onto the wiki page? we need to do this by tomorrow I think

KiranRikhraj (talk)07:08, 24 January 2015

Like what I did with the arrows? :D I was also able to embed the prezi on to the wiki page. The only issue I am having right now is having it load. The problem might be because of the video in our presentation. Otherwise, if you click on the link below it should redirect you to the prezi page.

Okay no problem Kiran! :) Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't delete that part, but I did take out one sentence from a different section because it was repeating a previous point (just different wording), and just merged the two together. I also changed two of the sub-titles from the "Disruption of physiological functions" section, as well as added a few more points. Feel free to take a look and tell me if you disagree with any of them.

I saved all the stuff that I have made edits to on another file. If you guys want to take a look, I can post it here.

One more thing, I added my sources to the reference section, but there's not enough space to fit everything in the circle and I don't know how to shrink it. Can someone help with this? Thanks!

Anna Dong (talk)08:14, 24 January 2015

Oh nevermind you guys already fixed the reference. Thank you!

Anna Dong (talk)08:20, 24 January 2015

Just went through the entire prezi - looks fantastic! Michael - the arrows are frieking awesome i like it haha :D and thank you Anna for leaving the sentences as is :)

Great work everyone! I hope we get points for creativity!

  • VERY IMPORTANT*

Hey everyone! Please check your internal message inbox on connect, because I just got my feedback and grade for my Individual Response section. Connect doesn't notify you when there's a message, so just wanted to let you guys know in case you didn't check your feedback already. This way, if there's any mistakes the profs picked up, we still have some time left before the deadline to make changes! :)

Anna Dong (talk)05:50, 25 January 2015

Updated changes: I've added the specific three toxins released by the bacteria, and also changed the title "Hijacks the Host Defense Mechanism" to "Impairment of Mucociliary System". I made the infection more specific as well. This is all in response to the feedback I got from my individual portion. Hope you guys see this in time!

Anna Dong (talk)06:37, 25 January 2015

Hey Anna, Thanks for informing us about the update and tidying a bit of the information on the presentation.

I wasn't aware of the feedback, so thanks again for that.
