Are we expected to be able to draw out each nutrient cycle? Or is it sufficient to know the sources and losses of each cycle?

No need to worry about memorizing the complete nutrient cycles. It is enough to know what are sources, losses and transformations of nutrients (N, P, K, S, Ca and Mg) within the soil. Also, you should be able to explain those transformations, not just to list them.
