Aggregates Vs Floccules

Aggregates Vs Floccules

I was wondering if anyone could clarify the difference between floccules and aggregates or the process from getting from one to another. I assume floccules are much smaller and chemically bonded, whilst aggregates are cemented by physical materials?

The short answer to this question is - floccules (comprised of individual clay particles bonded to each other) are the beginning of the aggregate formation, and for floccules to become aggregates they need to be cemented (by one or several types of cementing agents).
For more in-depth explanation, you will need to read the textbook and/or to come to office hours.
