Compliments and Suggestions

This was an incredibly interesting wiki page to read! You were super knowledgable and included amazing sources to help further your points. I thought your mention of stereotypes through rape culture was spot on and you backed up all your ideas with facts. I think one thing you could add to your paragraph about rape culture on campus and your inclusion of Brock Turner as an example could be the the girl who he sexually assaulted's perspective (Chanel Miller). She has a very interesting youtube video that touches on all of the things that she went through during the court case and all of the backlash she received from rape culture in return from the media. She originally was named Emily Doe to keep her confidentiality and the difference in the media coverage from then until she declared herself as the victim was very shocking. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouIxvBMF7Rw The video is disturbing but very interesting and fully demonstrates the ideals rape culture supports. Awesome work!

Suggestion: Case Studies

Wow! What a great page. Looks like you rally put in a lot of effort on this important subject. I really enjoyed the different sub-headings you did and how you organized your page, making it easy for us to read and understand the topic. In the future I think you could put more case studies of incidents that have occurred, so that people can get a better understanding of the severity of this problem. I believe it is important to continue to highlight past incidents and remind people of what has happened in the past. Great work!

Thank you for sharing. You’re contributions are throughout and it is evident you spent a lot of time researching about this topic. I noticed that in your references it says “check date (Help) in red” this can be easily fixed by removing the day in the citation. For example, instead of May 12 2018, you only need to write May 2018, and that error will disappear. Hope this helps! Providing quotes is an excellent addition as it provides raw and real information about rape culture. I have no other suggestions, you did a great job informing everyone on rape culture.

Suggestion (Andy Cheng)

Thank you for bringing light to this topic! A suggestion for this page may be highlighting the effects of being accused of raping or the stories of victims who are raped. This can allow the audience relate and humanize with the Wiki article. For example, are there people that are falsely accused of being a rapist and the implications that may have. Or shedding light to how a rape victim may live their life following such a traumatizing event?

Hello, thank you for discussing the topic "Rape Culture" as I feel it relates to our course GRSJ extremely well. With us focussing on Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice -- Rape is something which is intertwined in many of these fields. First, I found it very important how you clearly defined what rape culture is, and the origins behind it. As well, through the use of imagery (Stanford light sentencing example), we are able to see that rapist are sometimes people who we lease expect. One of the images you tried to upload how ever, did not format correctly and ended up not publishing (Error), I would go back and fix this. However, overall you provided an easy to read and strong display of what rape culture is. Secondly, I commend you for using University examples (chants etc.) as a discussion point on your page, as rape culture is a rampant issue across campuses. Overall, good work though. Finally, your use numerous reputable sources were much appreciated.
