How is the exponential function introduced in Math 100/180

If this is not the definition of the exponential function in this course, how then is it introduced? Regardless of this issue, the solution is too mathy. I would like to request more words. If nothing else, move the calculation of the limit in the exponent to a side calculation.

This is definitely how logarithm is introduced - its the inverse of the exponential function (How else you would introduce the logarithm function???)

I'll add more words to the solution. The hint I'm not sure what's bad about it given that this is how one is expected to solve the problem...

I can't get the white spaces to work in the explanation - Bernhard do you know how?

Thanks for adding a few more words. I simplified your solution a little bit and added even more words. If you think it's good now, please flag accordingly.

Not sure why the white spaces didn't work. I usually use \text{foo} instead of textrm, maybe try that next time.

lol you really didn't like that solution...

okay I'll confirm.

also I couldn't get \text to work in math align mode...
