Everyone at EML: |
In addition to UBC's Student Code of Conduct, (https://students.ubc.ca/campus-life/student-code-conduct) you must read and agree to the Emerging Media Lab Code of Conduct to work or volunteer at EML.
Code of Conduct
The Emerging Media Lab is dedicated to providing an ethical, safe, peaceful, and enjoyable working environment for everyone, regardless of age, body size, cultural background, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, name, nationality, personal appearance, race, sex, socioeconomic status, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
We have adopted the following Code of Conduct to address harassment, respect of workspace cleanliness, and noise level. This Code of Conduct applies within all EML physical and digital spaces as well as to all members of the EML community regardless of their position at UBC or status at EML.
Our Standards
Harassment includes—but is not limited to—bullying, the use of sexualized language or imagery in public spaces, unwelcome sexual attention or advances, harassment, both in-person and online, harassing photography or recording, inappropriate physical contact with others or their personal property, publishing their private information (such as a physical or electronic address) without permission, and any other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting.
Regardless of intent, members of the EML community who are asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately.
Lab Space
EML is a coworking space. We expect our members to make efforts to recognize the needs of others when it comes to noise, lighting, and conduct. Please treat all shared EML equipment with respect to maintain our shared resources. All areas of the lab are to be kept clean and presentable. We also recognize that accidents happen. Please report any spills or damage to equipment.
Enforcement and Confidentiality
Instances of abusive, harassing, or otherwise, unacceptable behaviour may be reported by contacting either the EML Supervisor or EML Coordinator. For both, email emergingmedia.lab@ubc.ca. We may take any action deemed appropriate, including warning the offender, or even revocation of EML membership. If you report an incident, we agree to keep your identity confidential. We value all our members.
By using the EML spaces or participating in the EML community online, you are expected to comply with this code of conduct at all times.
