Documentation:WeBWorK/How to mute grades notifications and hide grades from the Canvas gradebook
If you have Canvas grade sync set up, WeBWorK will push all homework and exam grades over to the Canvas Gradebook. To prevent students from being automatically notified of their grades, you can mute Canvas grades notifications and hide grades from the Gradebook for all or some of your assignments/tests so students are unaware of their grades until you choose to post them.
There are two levels of the grades posting policy: the course-level posting policy applies to every assignment and test in the Gradebook. If you want to apply a different posting policy for a specific assignment/test, you can apply an assignment-level posting policy which will override the course-level posting policy for that assignment/test. For example, you might choose to keep your course-level posting policy as Automatic (post grades and notify students as soon as the Gradebook is updated), then use the assignment-level posting policy to set just your tests to Manual (hide grades and mute notifications until you post them).
Note: For exams, it is recommended that you set course and assignment posting policies before the exam starts. Also, once the exam is over, you should also hide the exam on WeBWorK so your students cannot access it.
