How are Entries Organised

The Dictionary in Handbook I is organized into two sections: a short section of Suffixes, followed by the main word entries. Suffix entries are organised alphabetically by Wiyot, and each entry contains the part of speech, the page on which it appears in Teeter's grammar, and its gloss. The main word entries make up the rest of this volume. They are also organised alphabetically by Wiyot. Each entry contains the English gloss, its page in Teeter's grammar, and any known example sentences.

The second volume, Handbook II, is organised into two parts: the Interlinear Translation and the English Index. The Interlinear Translation is a series of Wiyot texts provided by Della Prince. Each text is written sentence-by-sentence as a numbered list. In a footnote at the bottom of each page, the corresponding English translation is written for each sentence. A few pages of notes is included at the end of this section detailing grammar, word usage, and how the stories were elicited. The English Index is organised alphabetically by English headword. Each entry contains the English headword, the Wiyot words that correspond to it, their English glosses, and their part of speech.
